A performance and payment bond is written by a responsible surety company authorized to do business in Arkansas, in the amount of the contract, will be required on all contracts in excess of $35,000. Bid security in the form of a cashier's check only (relative toother types of checks), drawn on a bank or trust company doing business in Arkansas, or a corporate bid bond in favor of the City of Hot Springs and in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid amount is required on bids exceeding $35,000 and must be submitted with the bid. For bids over $50,000, the contractor mustbe properly licensed for this activity prior to submitting a bid and provide proof thereof (show State contractor's license no.) with bid. The City of Hot Springs encourages participation from SBA and MBE/DBE/WBE vendors. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any formalities or minor exceptions.
