The Town of Vienna, VA seeks bids from qualified contractors for planter box protection along Maple Avenue. Located in Northern Virginia and approximately 14 miles from Washington D.C., the Town of Vienna is an incorporated town within Fairfax County--adjacent to Tysons Corner (Northeast), Oakton and Fairfax City (Southwest), Merrifield/Mosaic District (Southeast) and Reston (Northwest). The Town is 4.4 square miles and home to approximately 16,473 residents. Vienna is primarily a residential community with at least 71 percent of the land developed for residential purposes, excluding rights-of-way. The Town has approximately 3.5 million square feet of commercial and industrial space--60 percent is used for professional office space, 30 percent of the space is used for retail, and the remaining 10 percent is used for industrial purposes. Vienna is also home to a diverse business base serving independent retailers and even the nation's largest credit union, Navy Federal Credit Union. The Town recently invested significant funding to renovate the Maple Avenue streetscape with annuals, perennials, bushes and trees. The Town's Halloween Parade draws thousands of people that have routinely stood or sat in the streetscape beds to watch the parade. The Town of Vienna is in search of a vendor to install temporary fencing to protect the Maple Avenue streetscape planters from spectators stepping into the planters during the Halloween Parade. The planters are located on both sides of Maple Avenue from approximately Center Street to Berry Street. Please find attached document with the location, length and width of each streetscape planter. This project will require installing permanent PVC sleeves in the planter soil. Prior to the Halloween Parade, a vendor will wrap each of the 55 streetscape beds with plastic construction fencing that is attached to wooden stakes (2" by 2" by 5 feet tall) placed in the PVC sleeves. After the parade, the vendor will dismantle the temporary fence and wooden posts and store until next year's parade. Halloween Parade dates: October 23, 2024; October 29, 2025; October 28, 2026; October 27, 2027; October 25, 2028.
