Performance bond (surety) contractor must furnish a performance bond covering the faithful performance of the awarded contract as required by the county of Los Angeles (county). The performance bond must be 100% of the total contract amount and must be in effect on the date the contract is signed by the county. Surety companies used by the contractor must be listed in the latest published united states treasury department list of 'companies holding certificates of authority as acceptable sureties on federal bonds and as acceptable reinsuring companies' and licensed to transact business in the state of California on the date the contract is signed by the County.The premiums for the performance bond must be paid by the contractor. Other acceptable forms of surety are certificate of deposit (cd) or irrevocable letter of credit (loc) and must be 100% of the total contract amount and must be in effect on the date the contract is signed by the county.
