RFQ 2025-06SD - New Asphalt Basketball Half- Court with Regulation Lines, Hoop Installation and Site Work The Holyoke School Department is soliciting proposals to install a new asphalt half-court basketball court with regulation lines, hoop installation and the site work required for installation. The work is located at Sullivan School 400 Jarvis Avenue, Holyoke MA 01040. The dimensions for the court will be 50' x 50' and the surface will be asphalt with a connecting sidewalk to the existing sidewalk. The installation of the provided basketball hoop by the awarding authority/owner will be at a regulation height and cemented into the ground to prevent frost heaving in the winter. The lines painted on the court will be at regulation dimension per NFHS. The asphalt court will be 3-inches thick over a 6-inch road base gravel mix and both the asphalt and base material will be mechanically compact to meet D.O.T. standards for road work. Pour and place two 4-inch concrete pads for the placement and installation of two steel benches that will be provided by the Awarding Authority/Owner. Provide the necessary means and methods to install an asphalt half-court basketball court 50' x 50' with a connecting sidewalk. Properly grade and prepare the site for the 6 inches of gravel road base. Install the gravel base and mechanically compact it to D.O.T. Standards. Pour and pave 3 inches of clean asphalt mechanically compacting it to D.O.T. Standards. The surface of the finished court will be at the proper height to match the existing sidewalk. It will be level and have a slope that is not noticeable but will prevent ponding of standing water over the entire surface. 2. Provide the necessary means and methods to install a 4' x 8' concrete pad at a depth of 4 inches over a 3/4 " crushed stone base. The finished height of the pad will match the finished height of the asphalt court. 3. Provide the necessary means and methods to install the provided outdoor graded steel bench. The hardware used will be an exterior grade material that will not rust or corrode over time. 4. Provide the necessary means and methods to install the provided outdoor graded basketball hoop by the owner at the proper depth to prevent frost heaving in the winter months. Install the hoop with a high strength concrete mix while following the manufacturer's instructions to the proper depth and installation method. 5. Provide the necessary means and methods to paint the basketball court line markings with a high-quality exterior paint specifically designed to be used on courts of similar nature. All lines will be at regulation thicknesses and dimensions per the NFHS. 6. Provide the proper installation of the products provided by the contractor per the manufacturer's installation instructions. 7. Maintain a clean work area, working with the owner for storage of materials and equipment. The disposal of all demolition materials and job site waste is the responsibility of the contractor and must be included in their bid. 8. Provide any building permits if needed to the building department and post them in the correct location. 9. Provide a punch list walkthrough with the Maintenance Administrator when the job has been completed. Correct any items identified and once completed, final job completion will be satisfactory per the school's assigned representative
