Renovation of a medical facility in Calgary, Alberta. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.
Redevelopment of the Level 5 and 6 of the west wing for the Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) to meet the future needs of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). . It has been recently assessed that a complete decant of the current FMC NICU to the existing General Medicine/Inpatient Unit 62 at FMC is necessary to allow for construction of the redeveloped space on Level 5 and 6. Unit 62 requires significant mechanical and electrical upgrades to accommodate the code requirements for intensive care functions. Upgrades include, but not limited to, new air handling units to support required redundancy, new medical gas distribution and electrical upgrades to support the requirements of NICU care. The unit also requires significant asbestos abatement as part of the upgrades which also requires demolition and reinstatement of the majority, if not all, of the ceilings. Once the NICU is relocated to the new permanent location on Levels 5 and 6 after the decant, Unit 62 can revert to adult inpatient care. TIMELINE: Request for Proposals for Functional Programmer Consultant Services has been awarded. The study is to be completed and finalized by early Spring 2025. Further project details and schedules may be confirmed thereafter. *Cost to be determined.
