As of February 7, 2025, a design team has been identified. The Commonwealth of Kentucky through the Finance & Administration Cabinet, Division of Engineering and & Contract Administration is seeking design services for property improvements to the Kentucky Center for the Arts, Louisville, KY. Kentucky Performing Arts’ primary facility is The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts on Main Street in Louisville. The 344,000 square foot building anchors the downtown cultural district, which is composed of numerous museums and performance spaces. Originally designed by Caudill Rowlett and Scott Architects, The Kentucky Center opened in November 1983. Its three theaters consist of Whitney Hall, seating 2,400, home of the Louisville Orchestra, Louisville Ballet, Broadway Across America; the Bomhard Theater, with 640 seats, home to StageOne Family Theatre and the Kentucky Author Forum; the MeX Theater, with flexible seating of up to 139, which is used by numerous community theater groups; Lexus Lounge, a bar and small plates eatery with a full service kitchen, and the North Lobby, a lounge and special event space. In addition, the main facility includes numerous rehearsal and function spaces, including a spacious lobby, which hosts many community, business, and social events throughout the year, dressing rooms, and the majority of the organization’s office spaces.
