The City of Fayetteville has a population of approximately 210,400 residents. The utility that serves the City of Fayetteville is the Fayetteville Public Works Commission (PWC) which provides water, sewer, and electrical service to approximately 203,400 residential and commercial customers in and around the city limits of the City of Fayetteville. Fayetteville Public Works Commission has been in business as a local government entity through the state of North Carolina since 1905. PWC's water distribution system has 1407 miles of water mains and approximately 103,000 water meters in service. PWC's current GIS water meter feature class has approximately 60,000 meters with varying degrees of horizontal accuracy, multiple sources of creation, and minimal attribute data. PWC has approximately 48,000 service laterals in the current GIS water lateral feature class with varying degrees of accuracy and significant attribute information. PWC is currently contracted with CDM Smith (CDM) to develop a compliance program for the revised Lead and Copper Rule. As part of that effort, CDM will assist PWC in the development of an inventory of all water services within the PWC system. The location of the water services will be based a physical address.
