Site work for a water / sewer project in Norfolk, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
This acquisition will result in a unit-price contract for construction services. The project deepens a portion of the South NIT existing berth, access channel, and turning basin to a depth of MLLW -57' including paid and unpaid overdepth. Volume of dredge material is approximately 1,180,000 cubic yards, and disposal will be in the Norfolk Ocean Disposal Site (NODS). A second phase of deepening will occur at a later time. The South approach channel intersects the east side of the Norfolk Harbor Inner Harbor Federal channel. The previously authorized depths provided for -52' MLLW at the toe of slope along the approach channel and adjacent to the turning/berthing area. The material primarily consists of silts and clays with some clayey sand and will be mechanically dredged and transported in sealed barges to the Norfolk Ocean Disposal Site (NODS) The completion time for this contract is 244 calendar days after award (subject to change). The basis for award will be lowest cost Responsive and Responsible bid. Large business concerns are required to submit a Small Business Subcontracting Plan prior to award of the contract.
