As of October 11, 2024, per addendum 1, to comply with NC General Statutes pertaining to bidding of public projects, the date of the bid opening is being changed to Thursday, October 24th, 2024 at 2:00 PM. There will also be another Mandatory Pre-bid Conference on Wednesday October 16th, starting at 2:00 PM on site (Depot Street entry). Contractors present at the first pre-bid conference are welcome but are not required to attend this second meeting. The material covered will be essentially the same. Pursuant to Section 143-129 of the North Carolina General Statutes, sealed proposals for the furnishing of labor, materials and equipment for the development of the Railwalk starting at the parking lot on Depot Street and continues thru the building alleyway between Depot and N. Lee Streets to 228 East Kerr Street, Salisbury NC. The Project is approximately 10,700 sq. ft of alleyway that is being developed as a public oriented, leisurely walking and entertaining outdoor space.. Base bid work includes associated minor site grading; storm water system; entrance gateway features of brick, precast and decorative metal sign posts, decks and railings, sidewalks; landscaping and planters, brick paver sidewalks installed over a concrete slab base outdoor seating and other outdoor furnishings, raised walking and performance platforms, decorative lighting poles and signage flagging, festoon market lighting and artwork signage as indicated on the plans. ALTERNATE #1 - Replacing the existing concrete sidewalks with brick paver sidewalks and crosswalk along Depot and Kerr Streets. See drawings for the extents of the new paver walks. Bids shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond in the amount of 5% of the bid. A Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Bond each in the amount of 100% of the Contract Sum will be required from the successful bidder. In compliance with NC Senate Bill 914, the County has a goal of soliciting 10% participation from Minority Business Enterprises (MBE). The Rowan County Tourism Development Authority has the right to reject any and all proposals. Construction Duration - 6 Months.
