The City of McEwen invites sealed bids from qualified companies interested in providing paving services in support of the city's street maintenance efforts. The contractor selected will be responsible for preparing, grading, leveling, cleaning, tacking, and placing a hot mix asphalt surface overlay on streets in the City of McEwen. Bidders shall place their bid in a sealed envelope along with a bid bond and certificate of insurance. The outside of the envelope must indicate the bidder's name, license number, expiration date, and that part of classification applying to the bid in accordance with TCA 62-6-119. Bids not confirming to these provisions shall not be opened. Each bidder agrees by the submission to commence work within thirty (30) days of the issuance by the City of a written "Notice to Proceed" and to fully complete the work within sixty (60) days from the date of the Notice to Proceed. The work shall have a one-year warranty secured by a bond. The City of McEwen reserves the right to reject any and/or all proposals and to award the bid in any manner deemed to be in the best interest of the City. The work described consists of furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and services and performing all work required to grade shoulders, remove edge vegetation, clean the existing road surfaces, prepare subgrade, rehabilitate the subbase, install gravel base to repair/level the road base and place a uniform wearing surface and pavement markings in accordance with these specifications on the following streets. Minimum 2-inch hot mix asphalt overlay with a center crowned pavement cross section for proper drainage. The work will include the hot mix asphalt overlay of approximately 2 miles of local roads. The roads currently identified to potentially include in McEwen's 2024 Paving Program include: Locust Street, Melrose St (from High St. East to Railroad St.) Pinethicket Road, Wilkie St. (from St Patrick St. to College St behind factory bldg.) Swift St. East, and Blair Blvd. The Contractor will work with the City of McEwen to prioritize these roads and identify additional roads funding allows.
