Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Roseville, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a municipal facility.
On the Nov. 5, 2024, ballot is a half-cent sales tax that would raise $76.9 million over 20 years for the project. The plan is called Invest in Roseville. The idea is to bring a new “civic campus” to the corner of Lexington Avenue and Woodhill Drive, with a maintenance operations center at the northwest corner and a passport center at the southwest corner. $64.2 million for the maintenance operations center and $12.7 million for the license and passport building. The new maintenance building would be three times as large as the existing building. The new license center would be nearly twice as large as the existing building, which sees about 185,000 transactions per year and is one of the busiest registrars in the state, according to the city. As of September 16, 2024, if voters approve the 0.5% local sales tax to support these projects this November, the city will move forward with design and engineering work in 2025. Construction would likely begin in the fall of 2025, and the new License & Passport Center is estimated to open by the summer of 2028, while the new Maintenance Operations Center is estimated to be complete by the summer of 2029.
