Renovation of an educational facility in Alexandria, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 50,702-square-foot educational facility.
A. This project will replace existing sink, washer and dryer with new ADA compliant from room #124 to adjacent room #112. It will provide acoustical wall finish to the Tech office room #124. Replace existing window and fire shatter with a new non operable fire rated window in the office room # 102. Provide fire rated pathway device with built-in-fire sealing system through existing fire rated wall within the AS Recording Room building. B. In accord with the high-performance building act, the buildings are exempt from compliance because the cost of the renovations does not exceed 50% of the value of each building. C. An asbestos inspection was not performed because all portions of the existing building that may be affected by the work were originally constructed after January 1, 1985. D. An inspection to identify lead containing or coated building components has not been conducted because the building was constructed after January 1, 1985 and the owner has no knowledge of lead containing or coated building components in the building. It is the contractor's responsibility to comply with all Virginia occupational safety and health (VOSH) regulations as they pertain to employee exposures to lead. All lead and lead-coated building components shall be recycled to the extent possible The project is generally described as the construction of improvements to various rooms. Procedures for submitting a bid, claiming an error, withdrawal of bids and other pertinent information are contained in the Instructions to Bidders, which is part of the Invitation for Bids. Withdrawal due to error in bid shall be permitted in accord with Section 9 of the Instructions to Bidders and 2.2-4330, Code of Virginia. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Contractor registration is required in accordance with Section 54.1-1103 of the Code of Virginia. See the Invitation for Bids for additional qualification requirements.
