A general description of the bid work includes: The purpose of this project is to repair and improve the existing asphalt pavement along the designated sections of Calabash & Swamp Fox Drives and Brassie & Calabash Courts located within the Town of Carolina Shores, North Carolina. Work includes roadway milling to match existing driveways, patching, asphalt overlay, grading of shoulders, and seeding/erosion control. A pre-bid conference will NOT be required The Bidder is required to have insurance as outlined in the General Conditions. All Contractors are hereby notified that they must have proper license as required under the state laws governing their respective trades. General Contractors are notified that Chapter 87, General Statutes of North Carolina, will be observed in receiving and awarding general contracts. General Contractors submitting bids on this project must have license classification for Heavy Highway Construction. A performance bond and a payment bond will be required for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. An additional bond will not be required for work performed in the right-of-way. Surety companies must be authorized to do business in North Carolina. Based upon Applications for Payment submitted to the Project Engineer by the Contractor and Certificates for Payment issued by the Project Engineer, the Owner shall make progress payments based on ninety-five percent (95%) of monthly estimates with the final payment made upon completion and Project Engineer issuing a Certificate of Final Completion. The project shall be completed within 45 consecutive days. There are liquidated damages associated with this project. Liquidated damages will be in the amount of $250.00 per day for each calendar day beyond the completion date set from the Notice to Proceed. .
