SRU is seeking recommendations for the optimal approach to converting the existing effluent pump station to a combination influent/effluent pump station. Recommendations should consider operational impacts on the Town Creek Wastewater Treatment Train, bot The following is a general description of the work required. This description is not intended to be allinclusive. A more detailed description of the work requirements will be negotiated with the successful firm. A. Design The existing effluent pump station will be converted to a combination influent/effluent pump station. Equipment standardization, quality, cost, schedule and operational impacts should be included in the decision-making process. B. Permitting The Engineer will be responsible for preparing and submitting standard and customary permits as required by all regulatory agencies. C. Procurement Proposed equipment, parts and/or materials shall be submitted to SRU for approval prior to placement of orders. Procurement of all necessary items, including shipping and warehousing, will be the responsibility of the selected firm. D. Installation Wastewater treatment operations must be maintained during construction, and efforts to minimize disruptions must be coordinated with SRU. A pre-construction meeting is required for this project. Town Creek pumps treated and chlorinated effluent to SRU's Grants Creek Wastewater Treatment Train location where effluent from both treatment trains are combined prior to de-chlorination and discharge in the Yadkin River. Town Creek currently utilizes screw pumps operating in parallel to lift influent after preliminary treatment, as well as Return Activated Sludge (RAS) from secondary clarifiers, to the aeration basins for further treatment. SRU is seeking recommendations for the optimal approach to convert the existing effluent pump station to a combination influent/effluent pump station. Recommendations should consider operational impacts to the Town Creek Wastewater Treatment Train, both during the conversion process and after the completion of construction.
