The bond calls to plan and create a new downtown sports and entertainment district centered around a modern arena for the NBA's Spurs. The multibillion-dollar proposal includes major projects in the downtown Hemisfair area, expansion of the Henry B. González Convention Center, renovations to the Alamodome, a new convention-center hotel, conversion of the John H. Wood Jr. Courthouse into a mid-sized concert venue, and even a land bridge over I-37 to better connect the district. This project will be in the county’s bond election. As of August 24, 2026, Bexar County voters voted to approve public funding to support the new arena in November 2025. Voters will vote again this year to approve a bond to fund Hemisfair improvements before any construction can begin. Information regarding design firm, construction manager, and general contractor has not been released. Further details regarding design and construction timelines have not been released.
