The Work Shall Consist of Widening Mcashan Drive From Bay Drive to Old Tuscaloosa Highway to Include Grade, Drain, Base, Pave, and Signal. Alabama Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Highway Construction, 2022 Edition and Special Provisions Will Be Used for the Project. The Entire Project Shall Be Completed in 135 Working Days. Proposals Will Only Be Accepted From Contractors on the Alabama Department of Transportation (Aldot) List of Pre-qualified Prime Contractors. The Award of the Contract Will Be Made Only to a Contractor Who Has a Valid Certification of Qualification From Aldot as Required by State Law. The Purpose of This Meeting is to Provide Clarification on Any Questions a Potential Bidder May Have With Regard to the Plans and/or Specifications. All Bidding Questions Must Be Submitted via the Project Solicitation on at Online by Friday, September 27, 2024 at 5:00 P.m. Responses to comments will be provided by Jefferson County no later than 5:00 PM, 10/01/2024. The Jefferson County Commission Encourages the Voluntary Utilization of Qualified Resident Jefferson County Contractors, Minority Contractors, and Disadvantaged Contractors Who Live, Work, and Do Business in Jefferson County.the Minimum Pay to All Skilled Intermediate and Unskilled Labor Employed on This Contract Shall Be as Set Forth in the Special Provisions. Certified Check or Bid Bond for 5 Percent of Total Bid, Made Payable to the Commission of Jefferson County Must Accompany Each Bid as Evidence of Good Faith. The Maximum Per Contract is $10,000 for Bids Under $500,000 or $50,000 Per Contract for Bids $500,000 or More. The Bid Bond Shall Be Forfeited to Jefferson County, Alabama, as Liquidated Damages if the Bidder Fails to Execute the Contract and Provide Performance and Payment Bonds Within Ten (10) Days After Being Notified of the Countyís Intent to Award the Contract. Performance Bond and Labor and Payment Bond Will Be Required of the Successful Bidder. Performance Bond Must Be in the Penal Amount of 100% of the Contract Price and Payment Bond in the Penal Amount of 100% of the Contract Price. Bonds Must Be Executed by a Surety Company Acceptable to the Commission of Jefferson County, Alabama and Authorized to Do Business in the State of Alabama. The Contractor Shall Obtain and Pay for All Licenses and Permits Required by the State, County and City Authorities Having Jurisdiction Over the Work. Construction Cost Estimate: [$3,250,000 to $4,000,000] The Contractor is Hereby Advised That the Contract is a Completion Day Contract and That the Contract Time Limit of One Hundred Thirty-five (135) Working Days Shall Be Strictly Observed. Liquidated Damages Will Be Assessed if the Contract Time is Exceeded.
