This project involves work on a significant historical building that is an important part of Richlands' heritage. The project associated with this RFP is located at 1542 Front St, Richlands, VA 24641. This is the site of the Historic Section House of Richlands, VA. The Town of Richlands seeks proposals for professional services to repair rotten wood on the exterior of the Historic Section House and repaint the entire exterior of the building. The town intends to establish a not-to-exceed contract for these services. The scope of services includes: 1.Inspection and identification of all areas of rotten wood on the exterior of the Historic Section House 2.Repair and/or replacement of all identified rotten wood, with special consideration for maintaining historical integrity 3.Preparation of all exterior surfaces for painting 4.Painting of the entire exterior of the Historic Section House Proposals should include: 1.Inspection and Repair Strategy: o Methodology for identifying and assessing areas of rotten wood o Approach to repairing or replacing rotten wood, including materials to be used o Strategy for ensuring repairs match the existing structure in appearance and quality, with emphasis on historical accuracy o Estimated timeline for completion of repairs 2.Painting Approach: o Detailed description of the surface preparation process o Proposed paint products, including brand, type, and color options appropriate for a historic building o Application method(s) to be used o Estimated timeline for completion of painting 3.Key Personnel: o Resumes of the proposed project manager and key team members o Relevant experience in historical building repair and painting 4.Quality Assurance: o Description of quality control processes for both repair and painting phases o Warranty information for both repair work and paint application 5.Safety and Environmental Considerations: o Safety plan for working on the building exterior o Measures for containing and properly disposing of any lead-based paint, if encountered o Plan for minimizing impact on surrounding landscape and environment 6.References: o At least three references from clients for whom the contractor has performed similar work, preferably on historical or significant buildings 7.Cost Proposal: oDetailed breakdown of costs for inspection, wood repair, surface preparation, and painting o Any additional costs that may be incurred (e.g., special equipment rental) o Proposed payment schedule Only those proposals received by the stated deadline will be considered. All proposals, submitted by the deadline, will be reviewed and evaluated based upon the information provided in the submitted proposal. The Town of Richlands reserves the right to request additional information or clarification from proposers during the evaluation process. The Town of Richlands reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive any informalities in the proposal process.
