The City of Ottawa, hereinafter referred to as the City, is seeking offers from qualified contractors to provide 10" and 20" brush chipping services at various locations within the City on an as and when requested basis For a fixed hourly rate, the contractor shall supply all necessary skilled labor, materials, fuel, machinery, traveling time, tools and other plant to perform the work in accordance with the direction given by the City's representative and in accordance with the following requirements: (a) For the purposes of this specification, offers are being solicited for a complete combination chipping unit which is defined as the two (2) person crew and: A truck with covered dump box and half gate with minimum capacity of 20 yd3 box. (see price schedule for number of trucks required). A pull behind, self feeding chipper with a minimum 10" or 20" diameter chipping capacity as described in the Price Schedule. All equipment required to complete the work shall be supplied by the Contractor and the Contractor shall maintain the equipment in good working order. The Contractor shall replace any piece of equipment as required, at the latest for the start of the next workday following the loss of the equipment. (b) The Contractor shall supply a two (2) person work crew, both of whom will be capable of working as traffic control persons and/or labourers who will be able to cut, gather and pickup tree branches, brush, wood and debris into the truck through a brush chipper. (c) Supervisor(s) and labourer(s) shall be competent and compliant where there is a hazard of vehicular traffic. As defined under sections 67-69.1 in the Regulation 213/91 for Construction Projects under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). All operations shall comply with the current version of the Ontario Traffic Manual, Book 7 (Temporary Conditions). The Standing Offer may be extended for one (1) additional one (1) year extension options subject to continued requirement, satisfactory service, terms and conditions, and pricing, in the sole opinion of the City. Increases for standing offer renewals or extensions shall be in accordance with section 32 (4) of the Procurement By-Law.
