Reference Number : 0000363111 Slate Roof Replacement Touro St Fire Station All questions relating to this RFP shall be emailed to Alex Casagrande, Purchasing Agent at acasagrande@cityofnewport.com. It is the bidder's responsibility to see that the RFP is delivered within the time and at the place prescribed. Bids received prior to the time of opening will be securely kept, unopened. No bid or modification thereof received after the time set for opening will be considered, even if it is determined by the City that such non-arrival before the time set for opening was due solely to the delay in the mails for which the bidder is not responsible. Description The City of Newport Fire Station No.5 is located at 119 Touro St. Newport, in Newport Rhode Island. Station No.5 was built in 1895, and is a brick-and-mortar structure with original windows and roof. This building is a significant contributor to the historic fabric of the City and all work should be done to preserve this. Please note: The onsite space is limited and may not be an area to set up a project work area, or to store material, to work or store stuff taken before, during and after the project. Conditions for Construction Contracts Deliverables Supply and install a new synthetic slate roof to the highest wind rating Supply and Install new step, counter, ridge, valley, vent, and chimney flashing to code Scope of Work: The following scope of work will be completed as part of this project: A. Contractor is responsible for all debris disposal, tools, and equipment necessary to complete all aspects if this scope B. All work is to be done to current building codes and manufacture installation guidelines C. All nails and screws should be coated for rust protection D. Remove current slate shingles from the roof E. Stack all intact slate shingles on pallets to be moved and stored by owner F. Remove and dispose of underlayment G. Remove and replace flashing at chimneys (no steel, must be rated for salt wat conditions) H. Seal flashing at chimneys I. Remove and replace flashing/ sealant around any piping penetrating the roof J. Remove and replace any step, head, or counter flashing K. Install new drip edge L. Install new underlayment to code M. Install new synthetic Slate per manufacture guidelines for max wind load N. Install and flash three roof vents Prevailing Wage - Any construction over $ 1,000.00 is required by state law to pay the state prevailing wage. A current copy of the most recent Prevailing Wage scale is obtained from the State of Rhode Island, Department of Labor and Training, Division of Professional Regulation or at the Davis-Bacon Wage Determination link. It is also by request for each construction bid document. All vendors supplying construction services must submit certified payrolls from any contractor and sub-contractor who work on the project. No payments are made until all payrolls are up to date, and correct. Prevailing Wages also applies to ALL other (Non-Construction) Requirements. If the City's requirement is sealed bid, the DAVIS-BACON Wage Determination applies. The right is reserved, as the interest of the City may require, to reject any or all bid proposals, to waive any technical defect or informality in bids received, and to accept or reject any bid or portion thereof. The City of Newport reserves the right to reject any or all proposals or to accept any proposals deemed to be for the best interest of the City Bid date info : Proposals must be submitted in sealed envelopes addressed to the Purchasing Office, City Hall, 43 Broadway, Newport, RI. 02840, and must be plainly marked in the lower left-hand corner "Slate Roof Replacement Touro Fire Station, ".
