No phone calls will be accepted. samm@spacecamp.com The Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission DBA U.S. Space & Rocket Center seeks proposals from qualified firms to replace and update the Pathfinder Shuttle Fencing at the front of our complex between Habitat 1 and the Main Museum Building. The purpose for this RFP is to have interested and qualified professionals provide a proposal which details the replacement and offer a selection of material to update of the Pathfinder Shuttle Fencing on the North Boundary of the complex between Habitat 1 and the Main Museum Building. Fence Specifications: Fencing shall be 6' tall. Total fencing length ~570', including gates. Section length - industry standard. Bottom of fence shall be 2" to 4" off the ground, allow for ground maintenance. Concrete under fencing is an option and should be costed as an option. Each post shall be set in concrete. Material - black coated aluminum. Curbing at rolling gate R1 (figure 2) will be pulled back to the utility ground covers to widen gate entry from parking lot to shuttle area. Curbing work will be performed by the USSRC, prior to fence/gate installation. Gate dimensions in Figure 2 are rough dimensions. Personnel gates are manual in operation. All rolling gate openings at drive-in road areas shall be as identified in Figure 2. Manual gates and drop-in sections shall be compatible with the Salto Neoxx electronic padlocks (provided by USSRC), accessible from either side of the fence. Rolling gates will be motorized or manual type (see figure 2). Motorized gate shall be activated by a card reader mechanism which is compatible with USSRC badging system. Personnel gate #2 (see figure 2) shall be unlocked be a card reader mechanism which is compatible with USSRC badging system. Power source for motorized gate is at the location, previous gate was motorized. Bottom gap of the rolling gates shall not be more than 4" from the ground. New fencing shall be placed in roughly same location as the old fencing. Provide labor to remove what remains of existing fence Provide labor to install the new fencing Fencing with Gate Details: The electrical design drawings shall be approved by an Alabama certified electrician and provided to DCM for their approval prior to advertising/bidding process. Along with the fencing task at shuttle park, there is a need to add a personnel gate access between HAB 1 and SPOC. Figure 3 shows the location for the personnel gate. This personnel gate has the same requirements as the other two personnel gates in figure 2. Landscaping will be altered to handle new gates by USSRC. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Owner. The bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owner's judgement, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.
