All work in this contract is located in the City of Northampton. The project area is located within the northern section of Northampton Sanitary Landfill. The scope of work to be performed under this contract is for earthwork, site drainage and slope stabilization and all work described in the Specifications and Drawings. The proposed project is to repair the previous erosion and remove accumulated sediment from the downchute embankment slope. The existing riprap downchute will be replaced with a piped connection from the cap to stilling basin at the toe of the slope. The Project has been designed to maintain the existing stormwater management system in accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Technical Guide for Compliance with Massachusetts Stormwater Management Standards. The general elements of the Work include, but are not necessarily limited to Install, maintain and replace as necessary sediment and erosion controls. Install, maintain and replace as necessary surface and groundwater controls and diversions. Construction of a temporary construction access road. Site preparation, sediment/debris removal from the toe of the slope. Demolition, removal and disposal of existing failed stormwater downchute. Excavation and backfill to re-grade the subject portion of the slope and establish subgrade for the new 18-inch piped connection, which includes a catch basin, drainage manholes and a stilling basin.
