Site work for a water / sewer project in Hudson, New York. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Columbia County is accepting proposals from qualified engineering firms for water system evaluation, water tank sizing, design, construction administration services and construction inspection services for the construction of a water storage tank to serve the Columbia County Water District. Engineering Study: 1. Determine the volume of water needed to provide domestic and fire supply for the Columbia County Water District No. 1 taking into consideration developed land within the Water District and undeveloped land in and around the Water District Boundaries, as outlined in the preliminary engineer's report. 2. Evaluate the alternative sites available for the water storage tank. The preferred location will be lands currently owned by Columbia County within the Gerald R. Simons Commerce Park. The alternate site is located several hundred feet to the east. Consideration must be given to minimizing an obstacle for the Columbia County Airport. All work shall comply with the latest edition of Ten States Standards for Water Works and the NYSDOH. Proposers must be licensed to practice professional engineering in the State of New York. Columbia County owns and operates a water distribution system that services the Gerald R. Simons Commerce Park. Water for the district is purchased from the Town of Greenport from a source known as Mt. Ida located along NYS Route 9H in the Town of Claverack. The Mt. Ida water source can be best described as a large caisson well. The Mt. Ida pumping facility is located in a building that is constructed directly above the caisson well. Virtually all of the current mechanical, electrical and disinfection equipment at Mt. Ida was installed in or around 1992. The pumping equipment consists of two pumps as manufactured by Deming Pump, Model No. 4121, each fitted with an 8-inch impeller and 15-horsepower motor. The presumed operating point, as called-out by the design engineer for the renovations to Mt. Ida, is 150 gpm @ 225 feet of head. These pumps are identified as Pump No. 1 and Pump No. 2, both have 1V2" discharge piping and are the pumps that normally supply water to the Commerce Park. A third pump, Pump No. 3, is also manufactured by Deming Pump, Model 4121H, and is available in the event that Pump No's 1 & 2 cannot meet demand. Pump No. 3 is fitted with an S'A " impeller, has 2" discharge piping and a 40-horsepower motor. The presumed operating point for this pump, as called-out by the design engineer, is 350 gpm @ 225 feet of head. Proposals will not be evaluated solely upon their cost but will also take into consideration the experience and service that the Consultant will bring to the project. The County reserves the right to reject any and all proposals that are received. All proposals submitted remain the property of Columbia County. The successful Consultant will be expected to execute a Standard Form Contract with Columbia County and, provide Columbia County with a certificate of insurance naming Columbia County as an additional insured in accordance with the attached limits. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
