The City of Columbus is accepting Bids for the Griggs Boathouse Exterior Staining for which consists of wood staining and other such work as may be necessary to complete the contract, in accordance with the scope of services set forth in this Invitation for Bid (IFB). Columbus Recreation and Parks Department (CRPD) is seeking a contractor to re-stain Griggs Boathouse cedar siding. Griggs Boathouse is located at 3033 Thoburn Road, Columbus, OH 43221. All work must be substantially complete by May 12th, 2025. The contractor must coordinate their schedule around facility programming and get their schedule approved by CRPD before work begins. Base Scope of work consists of: - Mobilizing labor and equipment to jobsite; - Isolate the designated work area with signage and caution tape; - Cover and protect items in work area with plastic and tape; - Pressure wash surfaces to be stained with a PSI that will remove foreign matter to provide a clean staining surface but will not damage the cedar surface. Confirm PSI rate with CRPD; - Pound in protruding nails and remove and replace loose nails; -Tighten loose boards, caulk wood joints, wood gaps, and wood seams where old caulk has failed. Approximately 500 LF of seams will need to be caulked. - Remove downspout that is non-riveted to stain behind. - Apply Sherwin William solid color stain to cedar siding. - Apply Sherwin William Semi- transparent stain to trim. - Use bird-proof bird repellent gel or an approved equal to caulk high rafters to prevent birds from nesting in those areas. - Clean-up of area must be done on a daily basis while conducting scope of work. - Preparation of some trim will require sanding to accept stain and achieve a uniform look Water and Power Access o Water hookups are available on site for power washing at two exterior locations and inside the lower level boat bays. o Several outlets are located around the exterior facility for contractor use and also available in the lower level boat bays. The Director of Recreation & Parks may cancel the IFB, reject any or all Bids in whole or in part when it is in the best interest of the city, waive technicalities, hold Bids for a period of 180 days after the Bid opening, and/or advertise for new Bids, without liability to the city. The Contractor must perform all work between October 21st, 2024 and May 12th, 2025. Weekend work is permitted. All work must be substantially complete by May 12th, 2025. These are strict timelines that cannot be adjusted due to Project condition. Contractor shall pay a responsible wage to all employees directly performing the work specified in this contract. The responsible wage is $20.00 per hour.
