Description

Demolition, remodeling and renovation of a military facility in Fort Worth, Texas. Completed plans call for the remodel of a military facility.

Replace (6) existing damaged medium voltage switches utilizing SF6 (Sulfur Hexafluoride gas) located in circuits #3, #4, and #6 with new medium voltage switches (all the same manufacturer) that do not utilize either SF6. The switches are of varied configurations. Due to its high GWP, SF6 is considered a hazardous waste of its end-of-life. Therefore, only licensed or authorized hazardous waste managers are allowed to handle, transport, recycle, or destroy the gas according to national or regional regulations and standards. Gas filled switches shall be replaced with new dead-front, vacuum-interrupter, typically, non-protected ways rated 600A, and protected ways rated 200A, protected ways shall be provided with time-overcurrent, instantaneous, and ground fault sensing/tripping devices; Provide one-switch-way with elbow-style lightning/surge arresters installed.
