Ring Road Drainage Culvert The Nassau County Department of Public Works intends to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Engineering services in connection with the following: Materials Testing Facility On-Call Professional Inspection/Testing Services The Department of Public Works is requesting proposals from qualified professional engineering laboratory services firms, authorized to do business in the State of New York, to provide On-Call Asphalt and Concrete plant inspections during construction, as well as additional On-Call staff to perform materials tests to ensure all construction contract specifications are adhered to. The purpose of the RFP is to provide Nassau County with proposals for providing on-call construction materials testing, and on-call staffing of asphalt/concrete batch plant inspections. Materials testing laboratory and procedure should adhere to nationally required standards and batch plant inspections must follow Nassau County or NYSDOT procedure as applicable. The firms' duties are defined in the "Scope of Services" section of the RFP. Proposals should only be submitted after careful examination of the complete RFP and its requirements. The selected firm will be required to provide proof of general and professional liability insurance in the minimum amounts of $2,000,000 in the aggregate and $1,000,000 per occurrence, respectively. The successful Proposer will be required to comply with the requirements of Local Law No. 14-2002, "Participation by Minority Group Members and Women in Nassau County Contracts" and Local Law 2-2016, "Participation of Service-Disabled Veterans in County Contracts". All Proposers should review the provisions of Appendix EE (included as an attachment to the RFP) which outlines the requirements of Local Law 14-2002. Technical proposals shall include information regarding the Proposers plan to comply with Local Law No. 14-2002. MWBE UTILIZATION PLAN - In accordance with Title 53, Nassau County Local Law No. 14-2002, all Vendors shall submit a MWBE Utilization Plan with their Proposal. Among other requirements, the successful Firm shall make documented "good faith efforts" to utilize Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and/or Women's Business Enterprises (WBE) in the performance of the work. Additional requirements may be needed for compliance with other funding sources that the County is pursuing. All questions regarding this RFP shall be submitted by e-mail and, if deemed necessary will be clarified by addendum issued to all respondents. No questions will be answered verbally. E-mails shall be sent to the attention of Daniel Pollera, Project Manager DPollera@nassaucountyny.gov. Proposers should submit their question(s) prior to close of business on October 18, 2024. Violation of these provisions may result in immediate disqualification. Contract term: Two (2) years with two (2) optional one (1) year extensions.Road Repairs SUNY Old Westbury is soliciting bids to repair two road issues along the main campus loop known as Ring Road and Gate A Road. Part one is to provide and install a culvert pipe drainage pipe under an existing portion of Ring Road adjacent to athletic fields to allow for ponding water on road to bypass under the road. Part two is to repair area of washed out road at a separate location along Ring Road known as Gate A Road. The following scopes of work is based off of mandatory site walk observation by the bidder. Part One - Add Drainage Culvert scope of work is as follows: Culvert Construction Furnish Traffic Control Devices and Flagman as Needed Provide Full Depth Sawcut, Approximately 60' Excavate Existing Asphalt, Base, and Unclassified Material, Dispose Off-Site Excavate Existing Shoulder and Regrade to Allow for Installation of Culvert End Section Furnish & Install 30' 18" HDPE Furnish & Install (2) Galvanized Steel End Sections w/ Grates Furnish & Install Geotextile Separation Fabric at End Sections Furnish & Install 4"+ Rip Rap 6' from Drain Opening and 10' Wide Backfill & Compacts using Approved NYSDOT Subbase Raise Road Finished Level As Determined Possible in Field or Approx. 3" at Lowest Point Furnish & Install 4" Base, 2 1/2 " Binder, and 1 1/2 " NYSDOT Approved Asphalt Curses Restore Disturbed Area with Seed Part Two - Road Erosion Repair scope of work is as follows: o Furnish Traffic Control Devices and Flagman as Needed o Provide Full Depth Sawcut, Approximately 30' o Remove 20' x 4' Area at Roadway o Excavate Existing Asphalt, Base, and Unclassified Material, Dispose Off-Site o Regrade, Compact Existing Shoulder o Furnish & Install Geotextile Separation Fabric at Shoulder o Furnish & Install 4"+ Rip Rap at Shoulder o Backfill & Compacts using Approved NYSDOT Subbase o Furnish & Install 4" Base, 2 1/2 " Binder, and 1 1/2 " NYSDOT Approved Asphalt Curses Question Deadline 10/18/2024 The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
