Site work and new construction of a pre-engineered storage facility in Hope, Arkansas. Completed plans call for the construction of a pre-engineered storage facility; and for site work for a pre-engineered storage facility.
The work consists of a five bay storage unit to be located at a location at the Public Works Maintenance Facility. The address and contact for the site is: 1603 W. 3rd St., Hope, AR. BIDDERS ARE expected to inspect the site of the work and to inform themselves of all local conditions. The time of completion shall be 90 calendar days including Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays. NO BID may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for at least 90 calendar days. IN CASE of ambiguity or lack of clearness stating the price in the bids, the City of Hope, AR reserves the right to consider the most advantageous construction thereof, or to reject the bid. THE City of Hope, AR reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive any or all informalities, and to award the contract to the bidder or bidders who, in the opinion of the Owner, offers the proposal to the best interest of same. CONTRACTORS are cautioned that qualified bids will be subject to rejection. CONTRACTORS are specifically advised that any person, firm, or other party to whom it is proposed to award a subcontract under this contract must be acceptable to the Owner. Each Bidder must inform himself of the conditions relating to the execution of the Work, and it is assumed that he will inspect the site and make himself thoroughly familiar with all the Contract Documents. Failure to do so will not relieve the successful Bidder of this obligation to enter into a Contract and complete the contemplated Work in strict accordance with the Contract Documents. It shall be the Bidder's obligation to verify for himself and to his complete satisfaction all information concerning site and subsurface conditions. Information from Drawings showing location of utilities and structures will not in any way relieve the Contractor from any risk, or from properly examining the site and making such additional investigations as he may elect, or from properly fulfilling all the terms of the Contract Documents. Each Bidder shall inform himself of, and the Bidder awarded a Contract shall comply with federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and ordinances relative to the execution of the Work. This requirement includes, but is not limited to, applicable regulations concerning minimum wage rates, nondiscrimination in the employment of labor, protection of public and employee safety and health, environmental protection, the protection of natural resources, fire protection, burning and nonburning requirements, permits, fees, contractor's license, nonresident contractors notice, and similar subjects. The proposed work will involve providing an engineered structure that will be erected at the site to include all necessary concrete footers and/or anchors which will be designed and provided to meet the 2021 Edition of the AFPC as adopted by the City of Hope. The bays will be open on each end with a 25' wide by 30' deep space with a single slope roof pitched from east to west to allow for a 15' eave at the lower side. SUBMITTALS A. Indicate general construction, configurations, jointing methods and locations, fastening methods and locations, and installation details. B. Submit manufacturer's certificate of proper installation warranty. DESIGN LOADS GENERAL A. The basic design loads shall include live, wind, and earthquake (if applicable), in addition to dead load. All other design loads, whether they be of static, dynamic, or kinetic nature, shall be considered as auxiliary loads. The building must include an engineer's certification for earthquake stabilization to comply with Act 1100 of 1991. The certification must be stamped on the submittal plans. B. Vertical Live Loads: 1. Roof covering shall be designed for either 20 psf uniformly distributed load located at the center of maximum roofing (panel) span. The most severe conditions shall govern. 2. Purlins shall be designed for 20 psf uniformly distributed over the roof area which they support. 3. Primary framing (frames) shall be designed for 20 psf uniformly distributed over the roof area which it supports. 4. All the above loads to be in addition to the applicable dead loads and shall be applied to the horizontal projection of the roof. C. Wind Loads: 1. The wind load on the structure shall be 20 psf velocity pressure proportioned and applied as horizontal and up-lift forces according as recommended by the Metal Building Manufacturers Association "Design Practices Manual" of current issue. D. Combination of Loads: 1. The combining of normal loads and auxiliary loads for design purposed shall be as prescribed and recommended by the Metal Building Manufacturers Association "Design Practices Manual" of current issue. E. Certification 1. After the awarding of the contract, complete structural analysis and concrete footer design shall be submitted by the metal building manufacturer to the Engineer. The submittal shall bear the seal of a structural engineer registered in the State of Arkansas. DESCRIPTION OF BUILDING GENERAL A. The pre-engineered metal building covered by this specification is to be a rigid frame structure of steel (frames) rafter beams and columns of clear span. B. Column spacing at the exterior walls shall be 25'. C. The minimum eave height shall be as shown ROOF COVERING AND SUPPORTS GENERAL A. The roof construction shall carry an Underwriters' Laboratories Construction (Uplift) rating of not less than Class 30. ROOF PANELS A. The exposed metal roof covering shall be 26-gauge "PBR" Purlin Bearing "R" Panels to provide the specified load carrying capabilities and deflection requirements of this specification. The panels shall be supplied with a factory (baked on or laminated" color finish to be selected by the Owner. The color finish shall be applied to the exposed surface and shall be of such composition to provide 20 years of film and color life. B. Deflection of the roof panel shall not exceed 1/180 of its span when supporting the applicable vertical live loads previously described. C. Roof panels shall be fastened to the purlins with stainless steel or aluminum weather-sealed type screws, bolts, rivets, or with special clips. D. GUARANTEE 1. Durability of the roof panels due to rupture, structural failure, or perforation shall be guaranteed for a period of 20 years by the building manufacturer. A specimen copy of the document must accompany the shop drawing, clearly stating the conditions under which the guarantee is valid. PURLINS A. The purlin's configuration, thickness and spacing shall be the building manufacturer's standard provided all design criteria, including deflection, is met or exceeded. B. The deflection of the purlin shall not exceed 1/180 of its span when supporting the applicable vertical live loads previously prescribed and any collateral loads required.
