The Town is inviting proposals from qualified engineering firms / consultants with experience in transportation assessment and management studies, to undertake a Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) for the Princess Street - Sixteenth Avenue intersection abutting Ranger Park, Smithers, BC. The Town of Smithers has recently applied to the ChildCare BC New Spaces Fund Program, proposing to create a 74-space childcare facility, on a designated portion of Ranger Park. The project team has identified two potential locations for the proposed facility within the park. During phase 1 community engagement conducted as part of the project, residents in the neighbourhood had raised concerns around potential traffic increase to the site and the associated safety issues. The findings of the TIA study will be shared as part of the next phase of community engagement (scheduled for the end of November) and will help in determining the final location of the child care facility within the park.
