Part A - Waterline Replacement: The project consists of installation of approximately 2900 linear feet of 12" waterline, 53 service line replacements, connections to waterlines on three side streets, new hydrants, waterline abandonment of an existing 12" waterline and an existing 8" waterline, trench repairs, sidewalk restoration and curb replacement. Pay items for the waterline within the retaining wall limits will need to be tracked separately due to funding sources. B. Part B - Soil Stabilization: This project installs 300-feet of drilled shaft plug pile retaining walls and 400-feet of incidental roadway improvements to remediate the slope failures along River Street. The wall consists of 30-inch diameter concrete drilled shafts, reinforced with grade 50 ksi strength steel, W24x62 structural sections spaced at 4 feet on center and socketed into bedrock. Between each reinforced drilled shaft, a 30-inch unreinforced concrete drilled shaft (called plug pile) will be placed to serve as lagging. New guardrails will be installed behind guardrails and in front of the wall. The roadway alignment and lane widths will be adjusted to the west to improve retaining wall integrity while still maintaining typical roadway design criteria.
