Demolition, site work, new construction and renovation of a mixed-use development in Waynesboro, Virginia. Working plans call for the demolition of a educational facility; for the construction of a 105,000-square-foot educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
As of September 17, 2025, design team and CMAR have been identified. Construction expected to start in 2026. Waynesboro High School Construction Project The Project consists of a multi-phase construction of a new classroom wing, construction of a new gymnasium with associated spaces, and demolition of an existing classroom wing at Waynesboro High School (WHS). The total square footage of the new construction is expected to be in the range of 95,000 to 105,000 square feet. WCPS intends to execute the construction of the Project through this procurement process, utilizing the services of a single CM firm. The site will continue to be occupied during the duration of the work and will involve a phased construction process, requiring close coordination with WCPS staff and consideration of its academic calendar. The preliminary budget for the construction of this project has been set at $48,000,000. The Owner's total Project budget will not exceed the anticipated appropriation, and includes all services needed for the construction of the project. The Owner anticipates that pre-construction services will be required from the CM starting in the Spring of 2025 and continuing through the Spring of 2026. The Owner anticipates construction activities to begin in Spring or Fall of 2026 depending on the timing of the bond sale. The Owner reserves the right to decide on a case-by-case basis, at its sole discretion, whether to reject a CM's submittal. The Owner's decision to reject a submittal is final. All requests for interpretation of the RFQ and the associated attachments must be made in writing to WCPS. Such requests shall be addressed to Vonda Hutchinson, Executive Director of Finance, 301 Pine Ave., Waynesboro, Virginia 22980. Requests can be made by email at: vhutchinson@waynesboro.k12.va.us. To be given consideration, such requests must be received not later than ten (10) days prior to the date fixed for the submittal of the SOQ. Any and all such interpretations and any supplemental instructions or changes to the RFQ will be in the form of written addenda which, if issued, will be sent to all prospective CMs at the addresses furnished for such purposes and posted to the WCPS website, not later than five (5) days prior to the date fixed for submittal of the SOQ. Failure of any CM to receive any such addenda shall not relieve such CM from any obligation under the SOQ as submitted. All addenda so issued shall become part of the RFQ and receipt thereof must be signed by all CMs and returned to the Owner with the submitted SOQ.
