Battery Energy Storage System Retrofit and Upgrade Project The City of Austin, d/b/a/ Austin Energy, requires support for a retrofit project aimed at replacing the control systems of the Mueller and Kingsbery Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) while maintaining the existing Power Conversion System (PCS) and batteries. The objective is to modernize the BESS's operational and control capabilities to enhance efficiency, reliability, and system integration within the existing infrastructure framework. This retrofit approach ensures a cost-effective upgrade by leveraging the current assets' operational viability and focuses on introducing advanced control technologies to meet the evolving energy storage demands. By optimizing the performance of the existing PCS and battery components through upgraded control systems, the project seeks to extend the lifespan of the BESS, improve its compatibility with modern energy management practices, and align with the latest regulatory standards, thereby reinforcing the stability, reliability, and efficiency of the energy storage solution within Austin Energy's distribution system. Requires support for a retrofit project to replace the control systems of Austin Energy Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) while maintaining the existing Power Conversion System (PCS) and batteries. Term of Contract This Contract shall become effective on the date executed by the City ("Effective Date") and shall remain in effect for an initial term of twelve (12) months or the City terminates the Contract. This Contract may be extended beyond the initial term for up to four (4) additional twelve (12) month periods at the City's sole option.
