Site work for a water / sewer project in Vancouver, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Rehabilitation of the New Westminster Sanitary Sewer Interceptor - Annacis Section: Rehabilitation at Site 1. The Corporation is planning to rehabilitate Site #1 of to New Westminster Interceptor, Annacis Section (NWA), a major sanitary sewer interceptor. The proposed rehabilitation at Site #1 including approximately 200 m reinforced box interceptor is located adjacent to and outside of the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant on Derwent Way and Derwent close. The NWA, constructed in the 1970s, consists of cast-in-place concrete box culvert sections with exterior dimensions of approximately 3 m in height and 3.65 m in width, located about 2.5 m below ground level, as shown in the schematic view in Figure 1. The top slab reinforcement is understood to be in a severely deteriorated condition, and an additional structural top slab is required. There is also the possibility of partially covering the walls with a reinforced concrete layer. During construction, if degradation of the interceptor wall system is noted, a full jacketing or local repair may be considered based on the Project Engineer of Record's (EOR) new design. In the case of full-height excavation of the interceptor, the Cutter Soil Mixing (CSM) shoring method may be used to minimize potential settlement, subject to EoR approval. The main scope of work includes providing construction services and coordinating with existing utilities such as the City of Delta, FortisBC, BC Hydro, and Telus. Coordination will involve utility relocations to support the interceptor rehabilitation work. The utility relocation plan will be provided, and the contractor will work closely with utility owners by hiring subcontractors approved by the utility owners, if necessary. It should be noted that the concrete interceptor is located in a congested area with the Corporation's other assets, including but not limited to the outfall interceptor. The rehabilitation of the outfall interceptor is not included in the scope of this work.
