The work for which bids are to be received consists of: The labor, time and material for the replacement of the existing 20" water main located on Dresden Street East of First Avenue. The project includes the replacement of approximately 940 linear feet of 20" water main with approximately 840 linear feet of 12" PVC C-900 pipe, two fire hydrant assemblies, automatic flushing device and associated fittings, valves, and connections. ENGINEER'S ESTIMATE: $424,763.00 Work shall also include all supervision, equipment, traffic control, granular backfill, pavement restoration (milling included), flushing, disinfecting, testing and all appurtenances necessary to complete the work shown in the Drawings and Specifications. All work must be ready for satisfactory and continuous operation, in accordance with the Drawings and Specifications. The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility further reserves the right to waive informalities, and to award the contract to the lowest and most responsible bidder (or bidders), all to the advantage of the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility, or to reject all Proposals. Event bid note: Bids are to be placed in a drop box located outside of Room 100 at the EWSU offices in the Civic Center Complex at 1 NW Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard until approximately 2:20pm local time. A detailed description of each SYSTEM included in the contract, complete with estimated quantities. A. IT IS ESSENTIAL TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE, AS WELL AS TO CRITICAL CITY SERVICES, STATE, AND FEDERAL LAWS, THAT WATER QUALITY AND QUANTITY SUPPLIED FROM THE WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM REMAIN UNCHANGED AND UNINTERRUPTED AT ALL TIMES. B. This work shall consist of furnishing and installing temporary facilities and services, scheduling of construction, and utilizing construction procedures necessary to maintain adequate finished water supply to the distribution system and always provide no interruption to the water system during construction. C. Procedures and requirements set forth herein are included as a guide only and do not relieve the Contractor from any costs to provide and maintain any or all temporary facilities and equipment that may be required to maintain adequate water distribution system operation during the construction period. The Contractor may use procedures other than those set forth herein with prior approval of the Owner and the Engineer. D. No work shall be undertaken which would jeopardize the continuous supply of finished water to the distribution system. E. Allow full access for distribution system operators and Owner to all areas not under construction. F. The Owner and Engineer shall have the authority to stop or prohibit work which would interfere or jeopardize the continuous and reliable supply of water or the continuous operation of the water system without an increase to the Contract cost. SCOPE A. Connections to the existing piping and installation of valves and fittings shall be performed with no adverse interruption of water flow through the water distribution system. B. Perform all work necessary to complete connections and tie-ins to existing water mains in an expeditious and workmanlike manner.
