Nash County is soliciting proposals from qualified, experienced vendors to provide professional consulting services for a comprehensive update of the Nash County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). which is the document combining and organizing all the County's land use and development regulations. The selected vendor will have the primary responsibility of developing the updated UDO and will work in coordination and consultation with the Nash County Planning & Inspections Department. The County will provide the currently effective UDO document, the currently effective Nash County Comprehensive Land Use Plan, and GIS data layers as applicable. Responses to all questions received will be provided by email to vendors upon request and will be made available on online no later than Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Background: Located in eastern North Carolina, Nash County serves as a gateway between the Coastal Plain and the Piedmont regions of the state and is only about a 45-minute drive from Raleigh and the Research Triangle Park to the west. Nash County is positioned at the intersection of Interstate 95 and US Highway 64 (Future Interstate 87), with US Highway 264 also providing convenient access across its southern portion. The County contains all or portions of eleven (11) municipalities, including the City of Rocky Mount and the towns of Bailey, Castalia, Dortches, Middlesex, Momeyer, Nashville, Red Oak, Sharpsburg, Spring Hope, and Whitakers. However, Nash County's planning jurisdiction - to which the requirements of the new UDO will apply - only includes the unincorporated area of the County. With a total area of 543 square miles and a population of approximately 96,000, Nash County offers a diverse workforce as well as a strong local economy, and it is a wonderful place for growing families and businesses to call home.
