seeking qualified artists to participate as muralists in the Coahoma Development Corporation First Street Mural Project. Artists who are interested can submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) to provide the services requested. Selected artist(s) will be chosen to paint one or more of three murals to be completed through this Project. This project is intended to improve the downtown Coahoma area and to promote new or expanded business opportunities within the City. Artists will be selected based on qualifications that can best achieve the goals and objectives set for the Project within the budget allocated for each mural. Selected Artists will need to enter into a Performance Agreement with the in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A. Selection Process a. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee appointed by the Coahoma Development Corporation from November 12, 2024 to December 6, 2024. Description of Project. The will select one or more artists to paint three original murals on exterior walls on three identified buildings within the downtown area of the City of Coahoma. The will award a separate commission for each of the three murals/buildings to be determined based on selected artist's proposal. Artists will be required to buff and/or prime, paint, and seal their designated wall. Two of the buildings have existing murals that must be removed and/or primed over prior to painting the new mural. The selected anist(s) will create works that reflect the character of the City of Coahoma and the west Texas area, will not be deemed as an advertisement and are not vulgar or obscene. Each Mural must be: -Site specific -Able to last for at least 15 years without any required maintenance (Artist will be responsible for any touch up or maintenance that becomes necessary during such period) -Original, creative style and content by selected artist to be approved by -Meet the proposed narrative provided herein Completed within 90 days from award Mural 1. Bulldog Mural. The Bulldog is the mascot of Coahoma High School. This mural will be painted on the exterior wall of the designated building and shall be the artists interpretation of a bulldog. Sample images will be provided for inspiration, however the final work shouldbe the artist's original creation. The North elevation of 100 S. 1st St., Coahoma TX 79511 is comprised of a 80' x 16' wall of painted brick. Approx. Size of Mural: 1,280 sq.ft. Artist Eligibility -Open to all artists aged 18 and up. Artist teams are acceptable. -Artists must have completed at least one large mural, preferably outdoor and of at least 150 sq. ft. within the past five (5) years. -Artists who have experience creating works of art for west Texas area businesses are encouraged to apply. -Artists must be willing to travel to Coahoma, Texas to perform the work. Artists must be able to begin their project by February 15, 2025 and complete the mural no later than May 15, 2025.
