This building has been used by the college for several years (mostly for storage in recent years) and continues to deteriorate. We have examined a number of options for the building, but none were consistent with the college's goals. As addressed in the 2018 Master Plan Report, this building has three distinctly different project descriptions and associated budgets. The first is taken specifically from the Building Conditions Assessment to determine the cost to renovate the building, its systems, and provide handicap accessibility. The cost of this option was estimated to be $6,300,000 in 2018. The second recommendation is to correct basic Building Envelope Systems (roof, exterior walls, windows) to prevent further deterioration so that the building may be preserved until its use can be determined. The cost of this option was estimated to be $2,900,000. The third recommendation is for the complete demolition of the building to eliminate utility costs and upkeep and for re-purposing the site for future use. Cost for Abatement is estimated at $157,000 (the college has funds for the abatement).
