Sioux City City Council approves Tyson Events Center roof replacement, other projects SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - After having a leak during the NAIA women’s basketball tournament, the Tyson Events Center is in need of a new roof. Council approved the plans, specifications and estimated cost for the project this afternoon on a 5-0 vote. The project seeks to remove, dispose and replace the membrane roofing on the barrel roof. The city engineers estimated cost for the replacement is just over $1.25 million. Funding will be used from the events center’s remodeling and repair budget. There is one alternate for a deductive price to provide a 60 mil. TPO Membrane with a 20-year warranty and 1" hail coverage in lieu of the specified 80 mil. Membrane, 30-year warranty and 2" hail coverage. Each bid must be made on a form furnished by the City and must be accompanied by a bid bond, a cashier's check or certified check of an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Sioux City, Iowa. The check or draft may be cashed by the City Treasurer as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within the ten (10) days after notice of award and post bond satisfactory to the City ensuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract. The work on this project shall begin upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed and be fully completed by July 31, 2025. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. However, the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, readvertise for new bids and to waive informalities that may be in the best interest of the City. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the state of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor. THE SCOPE OF WORK FOR THIS PROJECT INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING. REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF ALL EXISTING ROOF MEMBRANE, LEAVE EXISTING COVERBOARD AND FASTENERS IN PLACE. REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF EXISTING FLASHINGS, TERMINATION BARS, BASE ANCHOR STRIPS, AND METAL FLASHING. INSTALL 1" POLY-ISO INSULATION BOARD, OFFSET JOINTS FROM EXISTING AND MECHANICALLY FASTEN. INSTALL 1/2 " ISO HD BOARD WITH COATED GLASS FACER FULLY ADHERED WITH LOW-RISE FOAM FLEXIBLE DASH ADHESIVE. THE COMBINED R-VALUE OF POLY-ISO AND ISO-HD BOARD MUST BE A MINIMUM OF AT LEAST 7.2. INSTALL FULLY ADHERED 80 MIL TPO. INSTALL FIRE TREATED WOOD BLOCKING WHERE NECESSARY. INSTALL NEW PREFINISHED PERIMETER SHEET METAL FLASHINGS, TERMINATION BARS, HOLD DOWN CLIPS, AND COUNTERFLASHING. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE AN INSPECTION OF ALL EXISTING ROOF DRAINS, IF MALFUNCTIONING OR IN DISREPAIR INSTALL RETROFIT DRAIN PER UNIT PRICING. MANUFACTURER SHALL PROVIDE A 30 YEAR WARRANTY WITH 2 " HAIL COVERAGE, SEE SPECIFICATIONS. PROVIDE ALTERNATIVE DEDUCTIVE PRICING AS DESCRIBED UNDER "BID ALTERNATES The Notice of Public Hearing will be published in the Sioux City Journal on November 9, 2024 and November 16, 2024. Question Deadline 11/08/2024 All questions about the meaning or intent of the bidding documents shall be submitted to the Engineer in writing. Questions received less than seven (7) days prior to the date for opening bids may not be answered.
