In general, the Services covered in this specification include, but are not limited to, installation and maintenance of bins; removal of solid waste at designated frequencies; processing of source separated recyclables and organic materials; waste disposal; removal of bins and equipment upon completion of service use, and all other aspects of collection. Services also include reporting on tonnages disposed, recycled, and otherwise recovered (e.g., diverted from landfill disposal by composting). Reporting shall include documentation from operators of destination facilities (landfills, material recovery facilities (MRF), recyclers, and the like). Tonnages removed from campus in recent years were on average four hundred tons per month principally using 3 or 6 cubic yard collection bins and several roll-off bins. Materials to be removed under this contract are expected to be of the same general types and magnitude, principally consisting of: Trash - garbage and other materials kept in separate containers to prevent contamination of recyclables Recyclables - materials targeted for recovery (or potentially recoverable for beneficial use), collected either in designated commingle containers for later separation at a MRF, recyclables collection shall also include collection and recovery of source separated ink and toner Green Waste - tree and plant material suitable for processing as mulch, compost or other beneficial applications Food Waste - waste from food preparation Stable Bedding - Manure and other waste matter normally accumulated and associated with stables or in livestock Construction Waste Excluded from this contract are: Hazardous materials, which, if encountered by the Contractor, shall be handled in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, and set aside for collection and disposal by others. If the presence of hazardous materials in a bin result in the bin not being emptied, the Contractor shall: Clearly tag the bin to draw attention to that situation, warning against it being emptied until the hazardous waste is properly handled and removed; and promptly notify the University's designated Waste Contract Coordinator of the situation.
