The American Water Works Association (AWWA) issued a statement on 8/17/12 that the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has begun implementing changes to Safe Drinking Water Act provisions to reduce lead in drinking water. Therefore, Federal legislation Senate Bill S.3874 (effective January 4, 2014) make it unlawful for any person or business to introduce into commerce, sell, or offer for sale products for use in systems providing water intended for human consumption, in which the products' wetted surface (the surface area that comes into contact with the water) contains more than 0.25% lead by average weight. Approved manufacturers are listed below. Efforts have been made to ensure that all manufacturer part numbers are correct and in line with new Federal legislation, however, questions regarding any numbers should be cross-referenced to those of other listed manufacturers to ensure accuracy.
