Phase 1 and Phase 2 seismic retrofits of the existing Conger Elementary School. Construction costs for this project shall not exceed $2,054,820.00 for Phase 1 and $2,019,000 for Phase 2. Project Description: The seismic retrofit of the Conger Elementary School includes the rehabilitation to the existing lateral system components in order to meet the requirements for "Life Safety" and "Immediate Occupancy" as outlined in ASCE 41-17. This will be accomplished by adding to or altering the existing structure and lateral load path to the building foundation. Included in this RFP is both phase 1 and phase 2 of the retrofit. Each phase is funded under a separate grant. PROJECT COMPONENTS: In general, the Conger Elementary School Retrofit project may include the following components: o Phase 1 may include o New in-plane attachments to shear walls o Installation of seismic isolation joint o New shear walls to reduce diaphragm spans o Strengthening of existing walls with new sheathing o New anchorage of heavy walls to the roof & floor structure o Out-of-plane wall strengthening with strong-back columns o New roof drag beams and connections o Strengthening roof diaphragm with new sheathing o New secondary gravity system at unreinforced masonry walls o Non-structural seismic bracing o Finish and roofing demolition and putback o Phase 2 may include o New in-plane attachments to shear walls o Mezzanine/stage anchorage to main structure o New shear walls to reduce diaphragm spans o Strengthening of existing walls with new sheathing o New roof drag beams and connections o Strengthening roof diaphragm with new sheathing o Non-structural seismic bracing o Finish and roofing demolition and putback
