1. The Base Bid includes approximately 1,589 LF of 8 and 814 LF of 6 Gravity Sewer Line to be removed and replaced. 2. Rehabilitate a total of 91 manhole determined to have considerable amounts of inflow and infiltration. 3. Remove and replace 13 manholes with new fiberglass manholes. 4. Replace a total of 17 service lines that were identified as leaking. Contractor shall complete all Work as specified or indicated in the Contract Documents. The Work is generally described as follows The Base Bid will be comprised of the rehabilitation of approximately 1,737 linear feet of 8" Gravity Sewer, 1,059 linear feet of 6" Gravity Sewer and the rehabilitation of 114 manholes. A total of 18 service lines will also be replaced. Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation, Funded by Liberty County American Rescue Plan Act. Funding for this project is covered under Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968. All eligible bidders must comply with Section 3 requirement in regard to meeting or exceeding the required objectives for both hiring and subcontracting. In accordance with these objectives, contractors are required to direct their newly created employment and/or subcontracting opportunities to Section 3 Residents and Business Concerns. A bid bond in the amount of 5 percent of the bid issued by an acceptable surety shall be submitted with each bid. A certified check or bank draft payable to the City of Ames or negotiable U.S. Government Bonds (at par value) may be submitted in lieu of the Bid Bond. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND CLARIFICATIONS The Contractor shall restore the work route to its original condition or better prior to acceptance by the Owner. The Contractor shall contact the owner Mr. Erwin Simien at (409) 277-1227 prior to starting any work within the project area. Any changes in quantities will be addressed by change order and will have to be approved by the Owner before any work can be done. All excess materials removed during the course of the project will have to be properly disposed of by the Contractor. The Contractor's attention is called to various physical conditions along the routes as follows. The Contractor shall take precautions to avoid damage to power lines, foundations, guy wires, and appurtenances. The Contractor shall observe all applicable OSHA and owner requirements while working near the overhead power lines including restriction of height of equipment. During construction, the Contractor shall take the necessary precautions to avoid damaging existing utilities within the limits of the project site. Estimate: $1.4 Million Additive Bid No. 1 Additive Bid No. 1 will include the rehabilitation of 45 manholes. GENERAL This contract provides for the rehabilitation of approximately 2,796 linear feet sanitary sewer line. SPECIFIC This contract shall include all necessary labor, materials, equipment, tools, inspection, testing, and superintendence required for the complete and operable rehabilitation of the proposed project as shown on the contract plans and specifications. Attention is called to the fact that not less than the federally determined prevailing (Davis-Bacon and Related Acts) wage rate, as issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Affairs and contained in the contract documents, must be paid on this project. In addition, the successful bidder must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual identity, gender identity, or national origin. The City of Ames reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding. Bids may be held by City of Ames for a period not to exceed 60 days from the date of the bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the bidder's qualifications prior to the contract award.
