The project consists of furnishing all material and constructing the following: Scope of work shown on the Drawings and specified herein consists of activities in two pressure districts of the water distribution system for Benton Charter Township, Berrien County, Michigan. The project addresses construction of a 500,000 gallon elevated tank serving the north district. Scope consists of furnishing and erecting a 500,000 gallon water storage spheroid including foundation and site improvements, plus mechanical, electrical, and all related work. The project also addresses construction of a 1,000,000 gallon elevated tank adjacent to an existing 4,000,000 gallon standpipe and pump station serving the south district. Scope consists of furnishing and erecting a 1,000,000 gallon water storage spheroid including foundation and site improvements, plus mechanical, electrical, and all related work. Operation of the existing 4,000,000 gallon standpipe and pump station facilities adjacent to the 1,000,000 gallon tank must be maintained during construction and through disinfection and filling of the 1,000,000 gallon elevated tank. After satisfactory performance testing of the 1,000,000 gallon elevated tank, the adjacent standpipe and appurtenances must be demolished and site restoration completed. Operation of the existing Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and distribution system shall be maintained during construction and performance testing of the new elevated tanks. The distribution system has two pressure districts, north and south. The north district receives water from the WTP. There are two pressure sustaining/pressure reducing valve (PS/PRV) stations that allow water from the north district to enter the south district. Work will consist of constructing, retrofitting, and placing in operation all facilities required to complete this water system improvement project. Phased construction is required to assure satisfactory operation of the WTP and distribution system are maintained to meet water demands. A bid bond, certified check, or cashier’s check payable to Benton Charter Township in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total price shall accompany each bid. This surety shall bind the bidder for a period of 90 days after the receipt of bids. Contract times are critical. Final completion of all work must be by the listed completion date in the Agreement and closeout of the contract must occur by September 15, 2026, in accordance with project federal funding requirements The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularities in bidding. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receiving bids for at least one hundred twenty (120) days thereafter.
