Site work for a water / sewer project in Mobile, Alabama. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
he work consists principally of providing bonds, plant, labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary for the Lower Harbor Berth Deepening in Mobile, Alabama. The scope of work performed will include dredging to a new guaranteed depth of -50 feet (-54 with maintenance and allowable overdredge). The location of this work is at the Alabama State Port Authority (ASPA), McDuffie Terminal, APM Terminal, and Pinto Terminal. All dredging will be performed, confirmed, and paid as per high frequency hydrographic surveying, west zone NAD 83 at MLLW. This work will consist of dredging approximately 340,000 cubic yards of material at 12,000 cubic yards per day. This specific volume of material is not a guarantee of the amount of contractual work; this is only a basis for bid evaluation and shall include any combination of lower harbor terminals (McDuffie Terminal, APM Terminal, and Pinto Terminal). Dredging will be performed early first quarter of 2025 (January/February) to include McDuffie Terminal (Docks 1, 2, 3, and Future Dock Expansion), APM Terminal, and Pinto Terminal. "Option A" requires that dredge material be barged to the Mobile Ocean Dredge Material Disposal Site (ODMDS). This site is located approximately 35 nautical miles south of the project location. Proposal "Option B" requires that dredge material be placed in the Gaillard Island Dredge Material Disposal Site (DMDS). This site is located approximately 10 nautical miles south of the project location. Bidders are encouraged to bid both proposed options, "Option A" and "Option B" but may bid one or the other depending on individual capabilities. "Option A" is dependent upon the receipt of an ODMDS permit due in January of 2025. "Option A" is the preferred option that will be awarded based on low bid. "Option B" may be selected as a contingency to "Option A" in the event that the ODMDS permit is delayed. "Option B" would be the non-preferred option and would be awarded based on low bid with "Option A" not being possible due to an ODMDS permit delay. The bidder must also be flexible with the vessel/barge traffic with no interruptions to the course of maritime business. This will require close coordination with the Harbormaster, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, terminal facility managers, surveyors, local bar pilots, and others as necessary. The awarded bidder must be ready to start no later than January 2, 2025.
