Demolition, site work, new construction and addition to a conference / convention center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the construction of a one-story above grade conference / convention center; for the demolition of a conference / convention center; for site work for a conference / convention center; and for the addition of a 122,000-square-foot, five-story above grade conference / convention center.

The scope of this project includes, but is limited to, the following: Demolition, site work, new construction and addition to a one-story above grade conference / convention center and a 122,000-square-foot addition to a conference / convention center. As of November 8, 2024, a construction manager has been assigned for this project. A firm construction timeline for this project has not yet been released. The Raleigh Convention Center Expansion is located adjacent to the existing convention center at the current Red Hat Amphitheater site. This new 5-story steel framed structure includes a 50,000 sf flex hall, a 30,000 sf flex hall, and ~42,000 sf of meeting rooms. Three elevated bridges connect the new facility over McDowell St. Project includes extensive AV/IT, acoustic, food service amenities. The new Red Hat Amphitheater will be constructed adjacent to its current location south of Lenoir Street, and will feature a 1-story building, custom rooftop structure and seating for nearly 4,500 attendees. This is an enabling project for the Raleigh Convention Center Expansion project that will also be performed by the Joint Venture following completion of the amphitheater project. The MWBE Program advocates actions, which increase opportunities for historically underutilized businesses and promote diversity and inclusion in City of Raleigh contracting. The City has an aspirational goal of 15% of the total contract amount to be performed by MWBE businesses on construction and repair projects of $300,000 or more, and contracts of $100,000 or more that include any State funding.
