Founded in 1939, the Providence Housing Authority (PHA) provides and develops quality and safe affordable housing opportunities and services to address the needs of Rhode Island residents. We are committed to the core values of excellence, accountability, innovation, respect, and equity in all that we do. Today, the PHA provides affordable housing to more than 12,000 residents in the City of Providence. We administer 2,606 public housing units that are home to about 5,613 residents - making us one of the largest landlords in the State. Units are designated as elderly/disabled, family, and scattered sites developments. We also oversee the administration of more than 2,700 tenant-based and project-based Section 8 vouchers, most of which allow low-income families to rent in the private market and host a variety of support programs to help our residents and participants meet their wellness, financial, and employment goals no matter what their age or ability. In addition to in-house services, the PHA provides a wide array of referrals to partners across the state. The PHA is a quasi-governmental organization, governed by a Board of Commissioners appointed by the Mayor and Providence City Council, and an Executive Director who reports to the Board. The Providence Housing Authority (PHA) is seeking an outside company to support our staff regarding plastering and drywall finishers. Generally, the plasterers will perform repair work. This involves assessing and addressing issues such as cracks, water damage, or deterioration in existing plastered surfaces. Plasterers will work mainly in a residential apartment setting or high-rise location collaborating with facility management teams or tenants to achieve the desired outcomes. In addition to plasterers, drywall finishers, also known as drywall tapers/finishers, specialize in working with gypsum board (drywall) to create seamless and smooth surfaces that are paint ready. In these applications they apply joint compound, also known as mud, to cover and conceal the joints between drywall panels, as well as nail or screw indentations. Drywall finishers carefully sand and feather the compound to achieve a flawless finish ready for painting or other wall treatments. The contract will be on an "as needed" basis when support is needed. The billing of the work will be by square footage for repairs and proposal for extensive sheetrock replacement. For special circumstance repair will simply be an hourly rate plus any markup on material plus profit and overhead, since it is unknown what the scope of work may be for any one site at this time. Estimated TIME for project o Tentative Start Date: TBD o Tentative Substantial Completion Date: 2 years from start date.
