Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Farmington, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
Lot L1 and A5 Parking Lot Repaving - UConn Health (UCH) will be making improvements and paving portions of surface lots L1 and A5 at the main campus of UCH in Farmington, CT. The existing pavement has reached its end of life and will be removed and replaced. During construction other improvements to the lots include installation of underdrains, replacement of failing catch basin tops and pavement markings. Lot A5 is approximately 3,500 sf that will be milled 3" and paved with new 2" base course and 1.5" wear course. Lot L1 is approximately 4,500 sf of pavement removal,removal 8456+and replacement of base material and will be paved with 2" base course and 1.5" wearing course. Work in the two lots cannot occur at the same time. One lot will be completed before the second lot can be started to minimize the amount of parking space lost to construction activities. This work will be completed over the 2025 Summer when the campus is the quietest. Contractors pre-qualified to submit bids on this project must demonstrate through relevant past experience their ability to successfully complete similar site improvement projects on active campuses (3 examples within the past 7 years). Contractor shall demonstrate the ability to coordinate construction activities so that impacts to the site are minimized to limit disruptions to vehicle traffic and pedestrians while maintain safe sites protected from the public. The Contractor and substantial Subcontractors shall be subject to the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) building construction and prequalification statutes. The contractor's experience must demonstrate the ability to complete similar projects with a value of approximately $1,000,000 and also have a minimum bonding capacity of $1,250,000. In the bidding of most deferred maintenance, major renovation, and new construction projects, contractors are advised that they must utilize Small Business Enterprises (SBE) and Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) certified by the State of Connecticut DAS Supplier Diversity Program, to meet the goal of 30% allocation (25% of contract value, at a minimum) to SBE's, of which 10% (6.25% of the contract value, at a minimum) must be allocated to MBE's only. The General Contractor will be responsible for ensuring that they and the SBE's they have selected are eligible subcontractors, and that they meet State requirements. Applicants must be pre-qualified by the Department of Administrative Services (DAS), for the Classification of Sitework to participate in this Prequalification Application A Contractor's financial statements are also reviewed. In evaluating submitted financials, UConn Health takes into account several different factors including company size, revenue stream, and other metrics computed using your audited financial statements. These ratios are then compared to standards based on project timing and estimated value. A Contractor should have a minimum of $3,800,000 annualsales for this project. UConn Health will utilize this sales standard as one of the factors in determiningif an applicant meets the financial requirements for this project.
