Site work, paving and renovation of a mixed-use development in Atlanta, Georgia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a medical facility; for site work for a medical facility; road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
Project Background: The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with severe and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders, and developmental and intellectual disabilities. DBHDD operates six regional and state hospitals including the East Central Regional Hospital (ECRH), providing and overseeing community based services. The East Central Regional Hospital has two campuses: Gracewood, established in 1921; and Augusta, established in 1969. In 2003, these two previously separate facilities officially consolidated and became the ERCH. The facilities serve DBHDD's 33-county East Central Region (Region 2). The 420-acre Gracewood Campus provides services for people living with development disabilities both an ICF/IID and a skilled nursing facility setting. The 310-acre Augusta campus provides mental health and forensic services. Each campus includes living areas, activity areas, administration building and support buildings. Project Description The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities intends to complete renovations to multiple buildings along with some site work on both the Augusta and Gracewood campus locations. The buildings will have varying degree of needs. While the complete project scope has not been finalized, the needs include, but are not necessarily be limited to, interior upgrades that could include some combination of mechanical/HVAC systems, plumbing systems/ equipment, flooring, lighting, carpentry, painting, site work and paving to address ADA accessible compliant ramps and stairs. There are no known structural issues with any of the buildings to be renovated. The selected design team will be expected to work with DBHDD and GSFIC to develop the final renovation scope to be completed for some or all the following buildings on each of the campuses: Augusta Campus ECSH-A buildings anticipated to be included in the campus renovation project are 1,3,4,5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 14, 15,16,19,201, and Building 202 Building #4 is currently undergoing renovation while buildings #5, 6, 7, 16 and 20 are in good condition. Gracewood Campus ECSH-G buildings included 15,76,103A, 103B, 103C, 103D, 5, and 8. All design for this project shall meet or exceed the requirements of The Joint Commission (TJC), formerly the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
