Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Milford, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; and for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
Work for this project involves replacing two of the four existing vertical shaft pumps with new dry pit submersible pumps; emptying and cleaning Wet Well No. 2; installing a 4-ton capacity monorail beam and electric trolley hoist in the pump room; and performing associated mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and concrete work at the Gulf Pond Pump Station. A Bid Bond of 5% of the total bid is required and must accompany each proposal. Bids must be held firm for 90 calendar days. The successful bidder must file a 100% Performance Bond, a 100% Labor and Materials (Payment) Bond, and Certificate of Insurance on notice of Contract award. The Purchasing Agent reserves the right to reject any or all bids, any part thereof, waive defects in same, or accept any proposal deemed to be in the City's best interest. Question Deadline 11/26/2024 Any request from a prospective Bidder for the interpretation of the meaning of the specifications or other contract documents, or any other question concerning the Project or bid documents, shall be made in writing to Westcott and Mapes, Inc., 142 Temple Street, New Haven, CT 06510, and to be given consideration must be received at least seven (7) days prior to the date fixed for the opening of bid proposals. This project involves the replacement of two of the four existing 250 HP Aurora vertical shaft pumps with new 185 HP Flygt dry pit submersible pumps, and modifications of the existing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems to accommodate the new pumps. The two pumps to be replaced are those that draw from Wet Well No. 2 (Pumps No. 3 and No. 4). The new pumps have already been purchased by the City of Milford and have been delivered to the Housatonic Wastewater Treatment Facility awaiting installation. Prior to commencing any work, Wet Well No. 2 and the discharge manifold for Pumps No. 3 and No. 4. must be isolated. All flows will be directed to Wet Well No. 1 and handled by the two existing pumps to remain. While offline, Wet Well No. 2 shall be emptied entirely of wastewater. The wet well ceiling, walls, floor, and interior appurtenances shall be cleaned of all debris, to the satisfaction of the Engineer. All contents removed from the wet well shall be properly disposed of in accordance with state and federal laws.
