Site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Matthews, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the construction of a 86,500-square-foot educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; warehouse / distribution facility; warehouse / distribution facility; road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The site will include parking, outdoor classroom, fire training structures, restrooms and storage. Driving skills training pad, driver training track and off- road driving range will be constructed. An indoor firing range will provide law enforcement training year round. Total area of buildings will be approximately 86,500sf. All necessary roadway improvements and stormwater structures will be included as well. NOTE: The total Cost for this project is actually $70 million. $40 million of 2017 PayGo funds will be transferred to this project to supplement the required funding. The remaining $30 million balance is included in this CIP request. As of November 11, 2025, this project is included in the county's 2025-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Bids have been submitted, but a decision has not been made yet. Construction is expected to begin in January of 2026.
