Site work for a water / sewer project in Decatur, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The work includes the installation of approximately 1,330 foot of 15-Inch RCP storm sewer, 95 foot of 12-Inch RCP storm Sewer, and drainage structures along E. Chestnut Ave, S. 34th St. & E. Leafdale Ave. The restoration includes the replacement of approximately 260 foot of CMP culverts, patching of driveways and roads, restoration of ditches, and seeding and mulching. The proposed improvement, 2024 Storm Drainage Improvements, designated as City Project 2024-30, consists of performing storm drainage enhancements at the following location in the City: The work includes the installation of approximately 1,330 foot of 15-Inch RCP storm sewer, 95 foot of 12-Inch RCP storm Sewer, and drainage structures along E. Chestnut Ave, S. 34 th St. & E. Leafdale Ave. The restoration includes the replacement of approximately 260 foot of CMP culverts, patching of driveways and roads, restoration of ditches, and seeding and mulching. This work will consist of providing all labor, equipment, tools, materials etc. required to excavate the trench to the necessary elevation and to place and compact bedding, haunching, initial backfill and final trench backfill material required to construct storm and sanitary sewers in accordance with Section 20 of the "Standard Specifications for Water and Sewer Main Construction in Illinois" and in accordance with the plans. Trench backfill will be provided in accordance with City Standards where indicated and as directed by the Engineer This work will consist of re-grading, preparing the soil, applying fertilizer, seeding, and mulch in accordance with Sections 250 and 251 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Areas for payment will be as identified on the plans. Areas for access and contractor convenience will not be eligible for payment. This work will consist of providing all labor, equipment, tools, materials, transportation, services and technical competence required to grade and shape ditches. Work will mostly consist of grading and shaping ditches in tight restricted work areas, on private property, where smaller equipment must be utilized to limit the disturbance on the property. All excavated material shall be removed offsite. Contractor shall also provide any fill required to meet the necessary grades. In diched and swaled areas where excavation has occurred but are not identified as grading and shaping shall be restored to the existing grades and are not eligible for payment. This work will consist of utilizing bituminous materials in accordance with Section 406.02 of the Standard Specifications and as modified herein. The Bituminous Material allowed as prime on brick, concrete, bituminous or aggregate bases shall be CSS-1h or RC-70. : Traffic control shall be in accordance with the applicable sections of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, the applicable guidelines contained in the Illinois Manual on Uniform Traffic Devices for Streets and Highways, these General Conditions, and any special details and Highway Standards contained herein and in the specifications. Special attention is called to Articles 107.09 and 107.14 and Sections 701, 702, and 703 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction and the following highway standards relating to traffic control: Highway Standards: 701001 701006 701301 701501 701901 It is the intent of the City that all streets under this project shall be kept open to traffic at all times unless permission is obtained from the Engineer to close said lane and/or street. In the event that it is necessary to close the lane and/or street, the Engineer shall be consulted to obtain permission at least 2 working days in advance of the proposed lane and/or street closing. All appropriate lane closure permits shall be filed with the Department of Public Works prior to any street / lane closures. All additional traffic control as required to protect the excavation, materials and work site or as specified on the standard details that are not specifically provided for herein, will be considered included with the contract. Property access must be maintained throughout this project. When approved, the Engineer will allow the street to be closed to through traffic. This work will consist of providing a uniformly straight full depth saw cut in varying depths of pavement, medians, curb and gutter and at other locations where proposed improvements will abut existing improvements, as indicated in the plans or as directed by the Engineer. Any damaged sections will need to be re-cut solely at the contractor's expense prior to placement of new material. All storm sewer shall be constructed in accordance with Section 550 of the IDOT Standard Specifications. Storm Sewer will be of the type shown on the project drawings. All proposed grades are subject to change depending on utility conflicts. There will be no additional compensation for investigating depths of existing utilities. This work will consist of the preparatory work and operations necessary to begin work at each work site. This work will consist of removing all existing pavement and extra subgrade material as necessary and replacing it with a Class D Patch in accordance with Section 442 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction and as directed by the Engineer. The pavement removal will be in accordance with Section 442.05(c). All patch edges will be sawed full depth and in a uniformly straight line perpendicular or parallel to the roadway centerline. The edges will line up with each adjacent edge. All contractors shall include the unit price and extension amount provided on the bid proposal form as a part of their Bid. The funds established in this item shall only be used by the City of Decatur in the event alterations, cancellations, extensions, deductions, or extra work on the project is required. This work will consist of removing all existing pavement and extra sub-grade material as necessary and replacing it with a Driveway Pavement Patch match existing in accordance with Section 442 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction and as directed by the Engineer. The pavement removal will be in accordance with Section 442.05(c). All patch edges will be sawed full depth and in a uniformly straight line perpendicular or parallel to the roadway centerline. The edges will line up with each adjacent edge.
