Renovation of an educational facility in Mesa, Arizona. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
DEADLINE FOR QUESTIONS: November 27, 2024 We are seeking qualified contractors for a complete re-roofing project at Smith Junior High School. The project includes removing the existing roofing down to the deck, installing insulation, recovery boards, and a durable multi-layer roofing system. The goal is to deliver a weatherproof, long-lasting roofing solution that meets all federal, state and local codes. Please note that this project is contingent on funding approval from the School Facilities Board. Scope of Work The overall scope of work includes but is not limited to the below. Please refer to Attachments A & C for further details. Roofing improvements at Smith Junior High School - buildings 1001 classroom/administration, 1002 gym & PE lockers, 1003 cafeteria & kitchen, 1004 auditorium. Roofing improvements to classroom buildings 1005, 1008 & 1009 (modulars) are excluded. Remove existing roof cover gravel and 2-ply system at building 1001, 1002, 1003 and 1004. Install new approved modified bitumen roof system. Make repairs to substrate prior to install of new roofing system. Install new wood nailer and coping as noted on plans. Coping color to be determined. Contractor to provide submittal for owner/architect review. Install saddle flashing at all parapet to wall junctions per detail. Remove and dispose of skylight lenses per local code requirements. Install new double dome acrylic skylights. Remove and cap off abandoned curb at building 1004. Replace all existing roof hatches, min. 8" from finished roof surface and install new ladder up post per OSHA standards. Install new cross-over ladder per OSHA requirements. (2) at building 1002 and (1) at building 1003 as noted on plans. The initial term of the Contract shall be one (1) calendar year from the effective date of Contract Award. A contract under this bid will be awarded to a single vendor. The award will be limited to the least number of offerors that the District determines is necessary to meet the needs of the District. This project will be completed within 8 months from the time of construction start date. Contractors shall note that the work must be completed and a Certificate of Final Completion issued within 8 months from the construction start date. Failure to do so will result in liquidated damages. Work for this project will take place during the school year, while classes are in session. Proper fencing, barricades and safety precautions are required. Construction Estimated at $5.1M. A surety bond, provided from a surety company licensed by the State of Arizona, payable to MESA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT #4 for ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid must be uploaded electronically in the Questionnaire section as a guarantee that the Contractor will enter into a contract to perform the bid in accordance with the plans and specifications or as liquidated damages in the event of failure or refusal of the Contractor to enter into the contract. The low vendor will be required to mail, or hand deliver the original bid bond to the buyer in 48 hours after the bid due date and time. The original bond will be returned to the successful bidder upon the execution of satisfactory performance, payment bond, and contract, as prescribed by Arizona Revised Statutes. The bid will not be considered valid if the required original bid bond is not received by the buyer in 48 hours. Cost of bid bond must be included in bid price. Contractor shall be liable for and shall pay District the sum of $1,000 per day as liquidated damages, and not as a penalty, for each calendar day of delay after the date specified in the Solicitation or any extension thereof granted by District for completion of work until the work is complete. Contractor shall pay liquidated damages to District without limiting District's right to terminate the Contract for default as provided elsewhere herein. District shall grant an extension for completion of work if the work is delayed for an unforeseeable cause beyond the control and without fault of Contractor and Contractor notifies District in writing immediately in writing of the cause of the delay and provides sufficient information for District to determine whether an extension is justified. The District shall determine whether an extension is justified in its sole discretion. After the bids submitted in response to an invitation for bids are opened and the award is made the governing board shall make available for public inspection all information, all bids and all findings and other information considered in determining whose bid conforms to the invitation for bids and will be the most advantageous with respect to price, conformity to the specifications and other factors to be selected for the award. Please note the Bid Submission Deadline time. Bids will not be accepted after this programmed time. For example: If the Bid Submission Deadline time the deadline is a hard cut-off. A submission at 10:00:01 is late and will not be accepted. We do not observe Daylight Savings time. It is the vendors responsibility to ensure that all required documents are submitted and accepted electronically. Once you have completely submitted your response you will receive a confirmation email from online. Any inquiry related to a Solicitation, including any requests for or inquiries regarding standards referenced in the Solicitation shall be directed solely to the Solicitation Contact Person. The Bidder or Offeror shall not contact or direct inquiries concerning the Solicitation to any other employee unless the Solicitation specifically identifies a person other than the Solicitation Contact Person as a contact.
